The project works in partnership with all providers of mental health services, so that service users are involved in the planning, delivery and evaluation of services.  We represent the service users and voice their needs and opinions.  As a collective voice service users opinions carry more authority.  We also ensure that service users are informed about developments and changes to services and that information on the range of services in available.

The Project is involved at three levels:-

  • Individual level - CPA, WRAP, Advance directives.

.

  • Local level-attending meetings, speaking up for service users, sitting on interview panels.

  • Strategic level-being involved in national campaigns and consultation.

How is information passed to service users?

The main forum for cascading information is via the Service User Groups which are held six weekly, at which there are speakers.  The project also uses this group to advice service users of any changes which might affect them or be of interest to them.  However, there are a number of ways in which the project has contact with service users, such as the community meetings in day services, self-help groups, on an individual level via Care Co-ordinators, at Mental Heath Forums and by providing information such as directories.

How can the project help you?

The project runs self-help groups:

In Winchester we have DARE (Depression and Anxiety Self-help), SENSES (psychosis), OCD.
In Eastleigh we have DARE, MDF (Manic Depression Fellowship), SENSES.

Meeting dates and venues can be found in our Events Schedule.

In the future you will see new posters, bulletins and information posted on this website, Doctors Surgeries, Libraries and other public bodies willing to support the project and
its service users.
